OUR PROGRAMS

We believe that we can step in and provide an alternative to the at-risk youths and under-served demographic in our community. We want to encourage and empower these children by providing safe and healthy activities as we encourage them through the love of Jesus. My City Youth offers each child the opportunity to be empowered by the possibilities of a fruitful future and guide them towards their goals through godly positive mentors. Ultimately, we will be able to guide them into a self-sufficient lifestyle and help them attain careers that will not only change their futures, but will impact the generations that will succeed them. When we change the futures of the youth, we change the future of this valley. We change employment rates, we change property values, we change the public services system, we change the economy.

The art program is one of the most popular programs; wait lists for participation have grown, creating the need to increase the number of classes offered. Art Coordinator, Nancy Espensen is a truly passionate and gifted teacher who inspires participants through mixed media, hands-on engagement, and other artistic techniques. From sculpting to line art, participants are taught about the masters of art, current and past artistic styles, and how to develop art using their knowledge, imaginations, and a variety of creative materials.

A representation of completed projects for with various media each class are featured in community art showings at the local mall. Through this program, participants gain an appreciation for a variety of art forms and hands on experience–and for some, it will be the beginning of a lifelong hobby or career.
